08/19/2014 KCI welcomes Dewayne L. Sykes, PE, CPM, as highway practice leader in Raleigh. Sykes brings to the firm nearly 40 years of experience in highway design and a thorough understanding of the highway project development process and utility relocation within the state.
KCI provided project management and design services to replace the existing two-lane structure carrying US 21 over the Catawba River with a 1,000-foot-long, four-lane steel beam bridge. During construction, contractor Lane Construction worked with KCI in designing a lifting frame system to launch 60-ton girders laterally from the existing bridge, avoiding impacts to the river and uncertainty associated with mobilizing barge mounted cranes over the shallow river bottom.
Earlier this month KCI's Resource Management Discipline launched Blue Current, a water-focused blog. Its primary goal is to provide a relevant and engaging online community where industry professionals can share insights, trends, technologies, successes and lessons learned.
