2003-04 Corporate Charity: The Chesapeake Bay Foundation

Model Corporate Donor—CBF has chosen KCI as its model corporate donor for 2003-04, based on the company’s bay restoration efforts. KCI will be the only company highlighted in CBF’s Annual Report, which will include a write-up of KCI’s volunteering efforts.

Bay Grass Planting—On June 28, KCI employees planted bay grasses at Otter Creek Park in Abingdon, Maryland. With the help of many family members, and friends, KCI volunteers added “home-grown” grasses to the CBF-organized planting event, which is helping to restore the important natural buffer in the upper reaches of Otter Creek.

Bring Your Kids to Work Day—On August 22nd, KCI hosted its annual “Bring Your Kids to Work Day” at corporate headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD The day-long event, which includes hands-on learning experiences—as well as a moonbounce, executive dunking booth, games, and food—offers children a deeper understanding of how engineers, planners, and scientists make a difference in the community.

A Patriotic Employer—The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has recognized KCI as a Patriotic Employer, for “Contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.” KCI has two employees, Eric Kohl (Raleigh Office) and Ryan McDavitt (Hunt Valley) serving on reserve duty.
